The Winebreather Deluxe is a follow up to our popular Winebreather Carafe. For the Fall 2014 Collection we’ve added a new version with a golden brass lid, in addition to the steel-lidded version from the Spring 2014 Collection.
Light the candles, open a bottle of wine, place the Winebreather Deluxe over the bottleneck, and flip it all upside down – the wine will run through the decanting unit and into the large-surfaced carafe for perfect aeration. Flip it all around once more to get the wine back in the original bottle, pour it, and taste the advantages of a wine with 10 times the oxygen.
We sat down with Kasper Rønn and Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen from Norm Architects to hear their thoughts on the design:
Jonas: “We wanted something more elegant and stately – but still efficient”.
Kasper: “The original Winebreather design was inspired by laboratories, pipes, tubes and bubbly chemical flasks”.
Jonas: “It spoke pretty directly to the “Little Chemist” who most men have inside us, and the inspiration really made it look like a tool”.
Kasper: “Which is something most men also appreciate…”
Jonas: “And it still is a tool, but in a more decorative sense. Like the first Winebreather, the law of gravity is visually warped as the wine flows down the sides of the carafe. It’s a delightful visual experience and now that we’ve given the Winebreather Deluxe an even bigger surface to up the aeration – the visual effect is even more visible”.
The Winebreather Deluxe works with both 750ml and 1000ml bottles, and holds 1500ml of wine. Flip it once and serve your wine in the Winebreather Deluxe – or flip it twice and serve the wine in its original bottle. Either way you get 10 times the oxygen.
