THallgeirHomstvedthe Oslo-based designer, Hallgeir Homstvedt, runs his own studio focusing on furniture, interior and product design. Hallgeir lived 9 years in Seattle, WA & Newcastle Australia, with family and later for University. We fell for his simple, yet elegant design approach and can’t wait to see more from his hands. Hallgeir himself says: “My design approach is to simplify the final design as much as possible. I strive to create products that have a timeless feel but are inspired by their time”.

chamber light smoke1The Chamber Light is perfect for dark winter months around the dinner table or the lovely summer evenings outside. The handle makes it easily portable and serves as a friendly reminder that you can always bring the light wherever you need it. Designer Hallgeir Homstvedt says, “Originally I set out to design a modern version of the classic kerosene lamp with the glass chimney and brass tray. In the design process I looked mostly to ceramics and electrical lighting for inspiration. The final design is a hurricane that has a contemporary feel, with clear references to classic candle holders and oil lamps”.

Another piece by Homstvedt is the Grow Pot – a round pot in traditional clay material on top of the oblong and seemingly quite ordinary piece of wood provides a nice contrast between both shape and material. Grow Pot is ideal for a little home garden of herbs in the windowsill. You can also create various installations with several pots on the tray and fill them with plants, violets or some lovely smelling fresh rosemary.
